Passengers of PIA special relief flight PK-7622 from Turkey received & garlanded by senior officials of PIA including Assistant Manager Public Relations Athar Hasan Awan at Allama Iqbal International Air Port (AIIAP), Lahore, on March 2, 2011. PIA arranged a relief flight to Dalaman, Turkey, to bring back stranded Pakistanis who had arrived in Marmaris, Turkey, due to the unrest in Libya. PIA operated its Airbus A310-300 aircraft to transport 195 passengers including 2 infants. Capt. Syed Mohammad Ali Gilani and Capt. Waseem Pirzada operated the relief flight

PIA’s flight dispatch section at Karachi was inaugurated by Managing Director PIA Capt. Nadeem Khan Yousufzai at Jinnah International Air Port, in April 2011. Also seen in the picture are PIA Director Flight Operations (DFO) Capt. Ilyas Malik, President Pakistan Air Line Pilots Association (PALPA) Capt. Sohail Baloch, Deputy General Manager Flight Operations Muhammad Haneef and other officials.

The PIA Flight Dispatch System is now decentralized and the basic purpose is to bring further improvements in the work and to maintain a high level of flight safety, better flight planning and reduction in flight delays. A similar set up was recently established at Islamabad while decentralized flight dispatch sections at Lahore and Peshawar are underway
