PIA
advertisement from 1963. The advertisement reads:
"Our pilots get checked twice
a year...our autopilots twice before each takeoff.
Every six months PIA's doctors
(so special they need a special license) take a long, searching
look at each of our pilots. Before each takeoff, a mechanical
specialist and our captains (we have two a flight) take an
equally long, hard look at the autopilot. When all three say
"Fine," we're satisfied. Perfect is a word we use a lot. We mean
it. We fly Boeing jets to Great Britain, Germany, Switzerland,
Italy, Lebanon, Pakistan...plus connections to India, Nepal, and
Burma." |

PIA
advertisement from 1964. The advertisement reads:
"When the plane you're on is
pampered, and you are, too, you're flying PIA between Europe and
the East.
Pampered? The crown jewels don't get
any better care.
Every 65 hours every PIA jet gets a
complete physical. Our mechanics (dedicated, every one of them -
and we have 2,009) check out 520 points.
Then our inspectors
(fantastically precise, all 360 of them) check them out again.
If they won't say yes, back
goes the plane.
Back, for instance, to the five men
who work on wheels, Or the two men who x-ray parts to guard
against invisible defects.
When a PIA Boeing fan-jet takes
to the air, it purrs.
You will, too.
So have your travel agent book
you aboard. We fly between London, Frankfurt, Geneva, Rome,
Beirut, Teheran, Karachi and Dacca. Also extensive service
within East and West Pakistan plus connections to India, Nepal
and Burma." |

PIA
advertisement from 1964. The advertisement reads:
"Two captains?
On every flight?
Sure, when you're flying PIA
between Europe and the East.
It's true.
PIA believes that in these
days of superjets and crowded skies, there ought to be a full
captain at the controls every minute the plane is in the air. So
we have two fully rated captains on every flight. Awfully good
ones, too. It costs us, in point of fact, over a million rupees
to train each captain.
We think it's worth every one.
You will, too.
Have your travel agent book
you aboard one of PIA's jet flights between London, Frankfurt,
Geneva, Rome, Beirut, Teheran, Karachi, Dacca, Canton and
Shanghai. Also extensive service within East and West Pakistan
plus PIA connections to India, Nepal and Burma." |
