This photo was taken on May 10,
1963 on the occasion of PIA's inaugural flight to Mangla with
Fokker F27 Friendship turboprop aircraft under the command of
Capt. Rahat Hussain. Seen in this photo (L to R) Capt. Rahat
Hussain, Capt. S.A. Malik, unidentified gentleman was District
Manager Lahore, Air Hostess Saeeda Siraj, Capt. S.S. Zaman and Flight Steward Nisar A.
Javed. Capt. Rahat Hussain was the first pilot in the world to
complete 10,000 hours of flying on Fokker F27 Friendship
aircraft and his achievement was officially recognized by the
Fokker Company. Many pilots of PIA and Pakistan Air Force learnt
finer points of flying from Capt. Rahat. Before joining PIA,
Capt. Rahat as Squadron Leader was also Chief Flight Instructor
at Pakistan Air Force Chaklala Air Base, Rawalpindi. Capt. S.S. Zaman
reached the position of Director Flight Operations before
retirement. Flight Steward Nisar A. Javed served PIA for more
than four decades and was Manager Flight Services at Islamabad
before retirement |
