This excellent photo taken by Peter shows AP-AMG of PIA in full livery of Air Malta at Zurich-Kloten Airport, Switzerland, on September 10, 1978. PIA delivered two Boeing 720Bs (AP-AMG & AP-AMJ) on wet-lease to Air Malta and these were Air Malta's first aircraft when it started operations on April 1, 1974; the airline later bought these two 720Bs from PIA on April 1, 1979. Earlier, PIA had beaten Pan Am of USA by offering most favorable conditions to win the contract of setting-up Air Malta. Under this contract, PIA sent over a General Manager and four senior managers responsible for the new Maltese airline's Marketing, Finance, Ground Operations and Flight Operations. PIA also seconded to Air Malta large number of pilots, flight and ground engineers and other selective posts, until such time that the new airline was in a position to use its local resources. Many Maltese were also sent for training in Pakistan, including a set of 12 cadet pilots and engineers who all undertook intensive training in their respective fields of competence - Special thanks to Capt. Robin J. Zammit of Air Malta for the additional information
