On October 17, 2001, PIA Airbus A300 aircraft registration AP-BCJ was performing airline's flight PK231 on Islamabad-Peshawar-Dubai route. The right main landing gear of AP-BCJ collapsed soon after landing at Dubai Airport. All 11 crew members and 193 passengers remained safe in this accident. The Airbus sustained damage to its right wing structure and its engine number 2, which partly broke off the wing. Due to the serious nature of damage and old age of AP-BCJ (manufactured in 1983) it was considered un-economical to repair it. The Airbus was declared a write-off and withdrawn from use by PIA

A CFM56 engine belonging to PIA Airbus A320 aircraft registration AP-BLD seen at aircraft's crash site in Karachi. On May 22, 2020, AP-BLD performing PIA Lahore to Karachi flight PK8303 during landing crashed in Model Colony near Jinnah International Airport, Karachi. Eighty-nine passengers, two cockpit crew and six cabin crew died in the crash. Two passengers survived the crash. A person on the ground also became victim of this accident
