In August 2014 PIA successfully
acquired approvals under ANO 145 and ANO 147 from Pakistan Civil
Aviation Authority (CAA) to become the only Pakistani airline in
South Asia to achieve both high aviation standards.
In a simple ceremony Director
General Civil Aviation Authority Air Marshal (Retd.) Muhammad
Yousaf gave ANO certificates to Managing Director PIA Shahnawaz
Rehman.
The program was initiated by
South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC)
countries under the South Asia Regional Initiative (SARI)
program in the year 2008. The primary objective of the program
was to harmonize aviation regulations in all member states and
align the same with European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA)
standards. CAA teams performed extensive audits of PIA
Engineering and Maintenance facilities and PIA Training Centre (PTC)
before issuance of Air Navigation Orders ANO 145 and ANO 147 |
