747-238B flight simulator installed at PIA Training Centre (PTC)
in Karachi, Flight Engineer Nadeem Afghan pulls the
(illuminated) fire handle for the number 4 engine which is on
fire. The handle casts a deathly glow on First Officer Nabeel
Jawed acting as Captain, and First Officer Salar Abbasi. The
engine has already been shutdown following the fire warning, and
the next step the flight engineer will take is to discharge 1 of
2 fire extinguishers into the engine by pushing the discharge
button located by the fire handle. If the fire still does not go
out, the Captain, following the checklist will command the
Flight Engineer to discharge the second fire extinguishing agent
into the engine. This Boeing 747-238B simulator, with Rolls
Royce RB211 in basic engine options, was purchased in used
condition from Qantas of Australia and has been in service with
PIA Training Centre in Karachi, since 2006 |
