Karachi-Dacca
First Jet Flight First Day Cover (Abbas
Ali Collection) |
|
This
old First Day Cover (FDC) issued by Pakistan Posts & Telegraphs shows
block of four Pakistani postage stamps celebrating PIA's first jet
flight, operated with Boeing 720B, between Karachi and Dacca (now
Dhaka) on February 6, 1962. PIA's Boeing 720B turbo-fan jetliner, with a cruising
speed of over 610 miles per hour, covered the distance between
Karachi and Dacca in two hours and thirty minutes. Also note
special pictorial cancellation with date February 6,
1962, on four postage stamps that were overprinted with text
reading "First Jet Flight Karachi - Dacca" and silhouette of a
Boeing 720B jetliner |
