On PIA's behalf its Managing Director Enver Jamall signed aircraft's delivery acceptance document. Capt. Mohammed Afzal

Capt. Mohammed Afzal is seen on the flight deck of a PIA McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30 operating trans-Atlantic flight in early 1980s. Capt. Afzal's service in PIA spanned from the early 1960s to early 2000s. During his tenure, Capt. Afzal flew all of PIA's equipment including Super Constellation, Trident, Fokker F27, Boeing 707/720B, DC-10-30 and Boeing 747. In 1960s he was appointed as F27 instructor stationed at Lahore. Capt. Afzal was an active member of Pakistan Air Line Pilots' Association (PALPA) and also served as PIA's Chief Pilot Northern Operations from late 1980s to early 1990s. At the time of retirement he had risen to no. 3 in seniority among PIA pilots. Now, retired, he tends to his family's lands near Faisalabad

This photo shows PIA delegation on a visit to McDonnell Douglas DC-10 assembly plant at Long Beach, California, USA, in early 1970s to evaluate the wide-body tri-jet. Seen in the photo is Chief Engineer Research & Development Mohammed Saeed (first from left). Soon PIA placed an order for three DC-10-30s, of which the first was received on March 1, 1974 with remaining two aircraft also delivered the same year. Later, order for the fourth DC-10-30 was placed and it was delivered to PIA on August 25, 1976
