PIA ATR 42-500

On May 30, 2009, PIA ATR 42-500 (AP-BHO) was operating PIA flight PK-688 from Multan to Lahore. During landing at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore, around 7:40PM, the aircraft skidded off the runway and came to rest on unpaved surface. All 43 passengers and 4 crew members aboard the aircraft remained safe. The aircraft landing gear, nose section, landing gear doors and fuselage skin near landing gear were damaged in this accident and the aircraft was put out of service. After arrival of spare parts, the aircraft's repair work was completed in October 2009 at Lahore Airport. In set of photos on this page, AP-BHO is seen recovered from accident site and moved to a hangar at Lahore Airport where it was repaired. After completion of repair work at Lahore, the aircraft was flown to Karachi. The aircraft returned to active service after getting repaired areas painted at PIA Engineering facilities at Karachi Airport
