2 PIA F-27s going to France?
I heard from a friend today that a museum in France has shown interest in 2 of PIA's oldest Fokkers which they want to put on permanent display as the oldest surviving a/c around. Anyone know anything more about this?
They'll be ending up at the right place at least!

Pakistan should consider preserving at least one or two Fokker F-27s in proper way. An F-27 can be put on display at PAF Museum in Karachi. Lahore airport also has vast empty grassy plots in front of the new terminal and there also an F-27 can be given place for permanent display. After all, Fokker F-27 has been part of our civil aviation history for more than four decades and few examples of the aircraft deserve proper preservation in Pakistan.

With all the space around the Allama Iqbal Intl Airport and hopefully the new Islamabad Intl Airport, they should built aviation museums next to the airport, so they can be show aircraft that were significant to Pakistan's aviation industry.Abbas Ali wrote:Pakistan should consider preserving at least one or two Fokker F-27s in proper way. There should be a B747, A300, B707 and Fokker F-27 and maybe some of the classical era too. This will give more knowledge to common folk about the aviation industry. There should be talks and conventions held there too e.g. to promote aviation and aircraft expertise.

Theres no concept of preserving such a/c here. They just hand them over to the scrap dealer who cannibalises them. Had they had any sense, they could have retained a DC-3, Super Connie, Viscount alongwith maybe a Trident, Fokker, 720, 707 and lastly a 747, but they don't think of such things. All these above a/c could have constituted quite an amazing lineup of PIA's past. A seperate section could have been dedicated at the PAF museum for classic commericals. All they know is that if they getting a few thousand or lacs for the a/c, get rid of it.
Which brings me to the 720 standing at the PIA Planetarium here in KHI. I was there the other day and it was in the process of being painted in the new colors. It was all in grey primer and as it was around 1am in the morning, the painters were laid flat out on the wings and in the cabin. I asked one of them who was awake when it would be ready and he said in about 4 to 5 days as there was some programme that was going to be recorded and they needed to have it ready by then. I'll go there in a day or to see whether its been completed or not.

The remaining nine F.27s (seven in service and two grounded) should be placed small airports around Pakistan.
Not Lahore, Islamabad or Karachi, but smaller regional airports where the F.27 has played a vital role in providing air transport.
Maybe a nice area just outside the airport should be developed into a park, where these fokkers with full interiors should be placed.
Reminding the people of Pakistan that this plane kept the remote parts of Pakistan connected for 47 years.
Gilgit, Chitral, Gwader, Turbat, Pasni, D.G.Khan, Multan, Sukkhur, and Moenjodaro can be the airports around Pakistan where the F.27 should be placed.
