PIA YYZ news

Post by behramjee »

1. Loads since Feb 15th have been vvv poor. Reasons being that their fares to KHI is $ 150 more expensive than Etihad, $ 20 more than Gulf Air and $ 200 more than EK (if taken via JFK).

2. Loads are in 50-60% range.

3. To ISB/LHE, their fares are $ 100 more than GF, $ 120 more than EY for an adult. For a child, their fares from YYZ to Northern Pakistan and KHI are over $ 100-130 more than EY-GF.

4. PIA have been calling its consolidators and especially its top 10 agents since the last 2 weeks pleading with them to try and make pax fly on their airline rather than EY-GF especially.

5. PIA had an excellent J class fare of CAD $ 2400 return for YYZ-PAK-YYZ in Feb but since the LRs have come here, they have increased it by $ 1500 to $ 3900!!! This is when their J class loads arent even 35% full on the YYZ-PAK-YYZ flight.

6. This year PIA doesnt have a family nor Seniors fare!!!

Why have they increased the fare?

I would have thought fares would have gone down due to the saving in fuel.
I understand not significantly but still...

why did she waste her money when you have the same sized Eco class seat + same legroom space for the same price as Economy class :!: :?:

tell her that EK would cost her CDN $ 1510, Gulf Air CDN $ 1480, Qatar $ 1510, AF-EK $ 1550, KLM-EK $ 1490, BA-EK $ 1550 all taxes service fees inclusive round trip!!!

unless ofcourse shes paying $ 1900 and flying PIA because of the nonstop flight convenience.

Generally people will pay more for a nonstop flight. (I would) However, with the 1 x weekly frequency, it becomes difficult to justify the cost when I could fly with Emirates and have 2 choices of flights every day.

Cheers

First time poster here.....:D

50-60% right now isn't that bad....its the slow season, in another couple of months, it should be booming...

speaking of which........does anyone know a good PK travel agent in the Toronto Area? my cousin wants to travel YYZ-KHI in about 10 days...and specifically with PK....

she already had booked her flight although i totally agree with you that its a waste of money flying PIA ecnonmy plus and i belive Qatar is a good choice because of the resonable fare and good inflight. Probably shes taking PIA cause of the direct connection and extra baggage allowance on economy plus.

I think forum member SENIOR mentioned in one of his posts that PIA 777LRs have 35 inches of seat pitch in economy+ as compared to 33 in economy. But seat size is same.

Behramjee, are you fimiliar with the route options with GF, EK, Qatar etc.? i.e are they all connecting via LHR/LGW? and which is the shortest flight out of these options?

GF has excellent connections with 2-3 hrs transit stops max at LHR for onward flights to India/Pak via BAH/MCT. With GF, you can now take BA or AC trans-atlantic which has appealed to many pax due to BAs superior service and inflight product compared to ACs. Via FRA or CDG, GF has a 4 hr connection but taxes are $ 20 less via FRA than LHR.

EK has the same as GF around 2-3 hrs max.

QR though depends on the timing of the AC flight you take from here.

Incidentally, UA's Economy Plus product also provides 35" (give or take a couple of inches depending on the aircraft). All Mileage Plus Premier members are automatically assigned E+ seats while other passengers are offered upcharged access for $300 per year or $25 to $50 on domestic flights, and $75 - $150 on international flights.
i
In my mind, if the upcharge from N.America to Pakistan was about $100, I'd take the 35" seat - at least you can actually open a laptop or bend over to eat your food or unlace your shoes even if the person in front is reasonably reclined. Oh, and you get a couple of extra samosa's too! How great is that?

to be very fair, I havent read anywhere official from PIA that its ECO+ seats on the B 772LRs are 35 inches in seat pitch...all I know is that J is 60 and Y is 32.

If someone has official/concrete information on this, I would be really interested in reading about it.

Thanks

May be forum member SENIOR can tell us the source of this information as he mentioned it in one of his posts. I know he works for PIA at Manchester. I will be flying JFK-ISB-JFK on 777LR next month. I have booked my return leg in Economy+ and paid $100 for the one way upgrade. I did it to see whether the Economy+ is worth spending the extra money or not. I know that 777ERs have the same leg room in economy and economy+. JFK-ISB-JFK economy class ticket in April costs US $1035(including all taxes).
