Boeing 737-900ER for PIA

Post by VC10 »

Assalam-o Aleikum
With respect to a replacement for high-density domestic routes I have aldeady suggested the 737-700/800, but I wonder if PIA would look at the 215 seat 737-900ER for regional routes ?

nopes...because it doesnt carry as much cargo as the AB4s did...hence making the B 788 which can carry 210-230 pax in a comfy 2 class layout + 12-14 tonnes of cargo on regional routes.

Powered by the CFM International CFM56-7B turbofan engines, the new derivative will have substantial economic advantages over the competing A321 including 9 percent lower operating costs per trip and 7 percent lower operating costs per seat.

Launched in July 2005 with a 30-airplane order from Indonesian carrier Lion Air, the 737-900ER is designed to carry up to 215 passengers and fly up to 3,200 nautical miles (5,925 km).

The first 737-900ER is scheduled for delivery in the first half of 2007 after a five-month flight test program, which will include two flight test airplanes.

If boeing is saying 215 seats, then in reality it is 190-200 seats for comfortable seating. Manufacturers always tell information a bit spiced up

There is also the cargo part of the aircraft : I don't think the 737-900 can handle 30 kg of luggage per passenger

No. LHE-MAN is 3462 nm and ISB-MAN is 3326 nm.

But it would be cool having 2 daily ISB-MAN terminating flights and on top the flights that would go to US and Canada....sorry could a lil carried away.

Back onto the topic. PK should go for B783 the one Behramjee is talking about purely because it carries more cargo and holds more passengers.

In a country with so much potential air traffic in the future I think PIA should stick to Widebodies. Besides. Cargo revenue is important. With the limited airport infrastructure in our country it is smarter to use widebodies.

Look at Airblue. Already they had to lease 321 due to increase in demand.

With the traffic growth last year, think of how much travel there would be in only ten years time?
