Project Title: PIA Airbus A320 and Boeing 777 Aircraft Cabin LED Lighting Upgrade

1. Project Scope:

The project entails the complete removal of the existing 'Classic' OEM fluorescent tube and ballast assemblies on PIA's Boeing 777 and 'Classic' & 'Enhanced' Airbus A320 aircraft, replacing them with an advanced LED lighting solution. PIA expects the new system to be a full RGBW LED cabin mood lighting system, plug-and-play (PnP) with no changes to aircraft-side wiring and connectors. It should utilize the latest advancements in lighting technology, support zonal control for different lighting scenes per zone, and offer both day and night modes to align with the airline's premium brand identity, enhancing the cabin ambiance for various phases of flight.

Effectivity:

Airbus A320 - 13 aircraft
Boeing 777 - 8 aircraft

Objectives:

1. Upgrade Cabin Space Lighting Systems: Transition from fluorescent to LED lighting to improve energy efficiency, reduce maintenance costs, and enhance the overall cabin space ambiance.

2. Enhance Brand Identity: Utilize latest in advanced LED lighting technologies to reinforce PIA’s brand identity within the cabin environment.

3. Improve Passenger Experience: Implement human-centric lighting to create a more comfortable and visually appealing atmosphere for passengers.

4. Operational Efficiency: Achieve greater operational efficiency through reduced power consumption, fuel savings, and longer lifespan of LED lighting systems.

Expected Outcomes:

Brand Elevation:
The new LED lighting is expected to significantly enhance the visual identity of PIA’s cabin space, aligning with the airline’s branding strategy.

Passenger Comfort: Improved lighting quality will contribute to a better passenger experience, increasing customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Efficiency Gains: The transition to LED lighting will result in lower energy consumption and reduced maintenance requirements, leading to cost savings and operational efficiencies.

Two 777s already have new led lights or what ?

Its now writing on the wall about BGL, BHW have been scrapped but which are the other two 777s left out ? Do BMH & BMG already have led light?

13 out of 17 A320s Maybe BOK & BOL already have leds and BLA & BLT have been scrapped!

How will new lighting enhanced brand identity? The seats are falling apart, toilets need to be ripped out ASAP, windows are scratched, cracked and dusty. :><

Hopefully new business class seats on 777s after privatization! Economy is still ok it kept clean but business class is ancient!
Finn Airs No recline business is the cheapest+ low maintenance+ low cost solution for PIA

Not really, the economy class seats are also in a bad state. I don't think this is a major requirement atm. They should've prioritised going for new or perhaps even after market refurbished seats for the 777 fleet. Passengers' experience won't change much with new cabin lighting if the seats are still the same old ones which have a broken IFE system, no in-seat power and a non-existent recline alongside tored filthy fabric covers when most of the airlines have switched to leather seats. The other major issue are the lavatories.

Flew on AP-BLS, yesterday morning from KHI to LHE and it definitely needs a cabin light upgrade, as well as a deep clean of the interior. Unfortunate that that bird hasn't been selected for an upgrade yet (according to a previous post on this thread) but I hope that it does soon.

Seems that they have selected the newer A320s for upgrades, wonder what this means for the previous inducted A320s

What are these black stickers on overhead bins and such a dirty interior! Wonder who is in charge on these jets maintenance!

People on this forum can better manage this jets rather than those working in PIA

I did notice these stickers. They seem to be stitched designs (similar to those that were on the tails way back when) but they're irregularly placed and most of them are either wonky or missing. Truly a shame because I don't hate the idea of incorporating traditional patterns into the interiors but this needs to be done properly, not with double sided tape and requires maintenance.
Also I agree, BLS's cabin was filthy. The windows were so dirty that it wasn't worth taking pictures at all, the ones I did were of no use. The tray table had stains and it just wasn't a welcoming environment .Shocking as this plane frequents the middle east so I was expecting more. I actually didn't mind the seats, especially after flying euro low cost frequently in the recent past, they're reasonably roomy and comfortable. Just needs a very very thorough clean and proper maintenance and I don't see why PIA can't compete with private and foreign carriers.
