Not sure about political impact, but PAF should only be considering C-17 Globe master for heavy lifting and should get out of C130, running and managing 60 years old Aircraft kind of mindset
C-17 is designed for strategic airlift, while C-130 is a tactical airlifter. Plus of course the cost.

C-17 have advantage in speed, payload, and range over the C-130. Could carry more pallets/ULDs, I think 16 or 18. The definition of Strategic and tactical mobility is kind of blurred based on Area of responsibility.

Though operating Cost for C-130 is less, but braving 50 years old equipment is an issue in itself too, isn't it?

Military air lift capability is developed in response to to requirements spelled out in a military's operational doctrine. What, how much and where and in what time, the cargo (may it be equipment, weapons or personnel) is to be transported. These requirements then translate into the type of equipment most suitable for that role and the numbers these are required.
Just because there is a better, bigger or faster aircraft available else where, does not mean that we need that too.

Right, this medieval mindset continue to feel happy and blessed to received 49 year old museum worthy aircraft that were retired else where by other Airforce.

These requirements of operational / strategic lift continuously needs to be improved, what was required 50 years ago is not same today hence the Aircraft.

No pun intended, but India added C-17 and their operations in Ladakh, West of Kashmir, and at NJ9842 point improved significantly.
Fortune favours brave.
