National Airlines Boeing 747 Freighter Transports Cattle from Sao Paulo to Sialkot

National Airlines Boeing 747-400 freighter named "Lori" (aircraft registration N936CA) transported first batch of high breed cattle from Sao Paulo (Brazil) to Sialkot. The cattle has been imported to support Green Pakistan Livestock Initiative (GPLI) under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) to meet rising demand of meat and milk in Pakistan. The aircraft arrived in Sialkot on March 28.





The Boeing 747 cargo flight from Sao Paulo to Sialkot made stops in Angola and Oman.











From Sialkot cattle were shifted to Okara where they will be kept in quarantine for two weeks.

The cattle will be supplied to farmers in Pakistan for country's meat and milk requirements.

That's a very rare flight but it's quite concerning that we export soo much that we have to import the same things just in order to meet the local demand.

Interestingly imported cattle breeds include Red Sindhi, Guzera, Brahman and Gir that were imported by Brazil from Pakistan in 1950s and protected and bred in Brazil.

GPLI is military project part of Green Pakistan initiative inaugurated by COAS, I doubt they will be provided to average farmers. They will probably be used on Military farms. We may get Fauji Milk too

I think it's more of a scientific import, they are probably seeking to breed them here in Pakistan. If meat and milk only were required to fill a deficit then those finished goods would have been imported. Now whether this will be successful or not, god knows, I don't think this is the first time this has been done, iirc Nawaz did the same with Aussie cows though I could be wrong.

747 freight charter from Brazil is a very expensive operation.. cost may be around 400K to half a million USD...whose money was used in this ?
