LAHORE: A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Boeing 777 was preparing to take off for New York when one of its wings clipped the tail of domestic airliner Flybe Dash 8 at Manchester Airport, and both aircrafts had to be grounded, according to a report in The Manchester Evening News.
The newspaper reported that no one was injured in the incident and more than 130 passengers on the PIA flight, PK-723, had to be put up in hotels overnight while the aircraft was checked over. Passengers on the Flybe Dash 8, which was heading for Southampton with 43 people on board, were put on other flights as the aircraft’s rudder was damaged. A spokesman for the Air Accidents Investigation Branch at Manchester Airport confirmed it had launched an investigation. PIA officials told Daily Times on Sunday that the “minor accident†took place on February 15.
