KARACHI: Chairman and CEO Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Tariq Kirmani clicked first computerised balloting of the ten lucky PIA employees who shall be performing Hajj this year under PIA’s special sponsorship package.
PIA has worked out this arrangement in collaboration with the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
PIA, for the first time in its history, conducted computerised Hajj balloting for the employees of the airline.
A simple ceremony was held at PIA Head Office here on Tuesday. The chairman, while speaking to the gathering, congratulated the successful employees and wished them well for performing this religious duty.
Under the New Hajj Balloting Scheme employees in both managerial and staff cadre are randomly chosen through balloting to perform Hajj sponsored by the airline. However, the senior management cadre is not included in the scheme. The computerised balloting mechanics, in terms of eligible employees’ database, was devised by the Information Technology Department of the national carrier.
The employees selected from the staff cadre are Ishaque, Muhammad Khurram, Waqar H Shah, Amjad Ali, Malik Muhammad Usman. Those selected from the officers cadre are Nusrat Habib, Muhammed Masih, Siddique Pirzada, Sabir Ali, Sher Alam Jadoon.
