KARACHI: The Pakistan International Airlines is confident of regaining its lost profit base in 2007 in view of the initiatives being taken by the management in all spheres of airline activity, including induction of fuel-efficient aircraft, said a press release issued here.
It said after regaining its lost profit base in 2007, the airline would continue to be profitable in the coming years. The PIA has been badly hurt by the exorbitant increase in fuel prices, which has affected the aviation industry the world over.
The PIA taking due cognizance of this situation had already embarked on a strategy to further enhance its revenue while containing all manageable costs without compromising on the basic concept of three Cs for the ultimate passenger convenience.
The PIA’s task has now become more achievable with the softening of fuel prices, which now are around $58 per barrel.
The management initiatives include e-ticketing, web-based booking, friendly frequent flyer programme and installation of state-of-the-art revenue management system, which provides for revenue increase of two per cent to seven per cent during 2007.
The PIA’s plan also caters to the refurbishment of its existing fleet while inducting three more 777 aircraft. Their delivery will start from mid-December and continue till February next year, thus making a total of eight 777 family aircraft in the PIA along with the induction of six ATR aircraft to augment the feeder network.
