Pilgrims' flight arrives 22 hours late

Post by Abbas Ali »

JEDDAH: While thousands of pilgrims have started their journey for homes, PK-732 which was supposed to leave at 22:00 hours on Saturday night, took off after a delay of 22 hours with 433 passengers onboard, on Sunday evening.

A similar fate has meted to PK-732 which was supposed to depart for Karachi on Sunday, October 22 with 400 passengers onboard would start its Karachi bound journey after 7 hours of delay, on Monday when Saudi Arabia would be celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr.

When contacted about clarifications, PIA Jeddah sources explained that PK-732 was supposed to arrive in Jeddah at 2000 hours, but failed to arrive on schedule due to technical problems. Besides it is difficult to accommodate passengers in a smaller flight, which sometimes has to be operated.

Passengers have complained that due to the late operations of scheduled flights, they would not be able to celebrate Eid with their dear ones, specifically those who have to catch connecting flights to their home cities after disembarking at Karachi.

PAK CAA is taking the heat from UK CAA. The 743 that was to operate PK731 was grounded by the CAA after a ramp inspection. Instead the 777 operated the flight, which lead to the delay.
