Senate body for reopening parliamentary counters at airports

Post by Abbas Ali »

ISLAMABAD: Senate Committee on Rules of Procedures and Privileges observed on Thursday that PIA, being a service oriented organization, should post the best possible and courteous staff at the airport counters so as to facilitate the general public.

The committee which met here under the chairmanship of Senator Tahir Hussain Mashhadi made this observation while considering the privilege motion moved by Senator Kalsoom Perveen on the alleged refusal by the in charge of PIA counter Rawal Lounge, Islamabad Airport, to issue boarding card to the senator. The committee directed the Ministry of Defence to hold a proper inquiry into the incident that took place on September 11, 2006. During consideration of the privilege motion it was pointed out that parliamentary counters which were established at the airports to facilitate the members of the Parliament have not been made functional.

Is this the same Kulsoom Parveen whose son beat up a PIA staff when he asked him to wait for his boarding card as he was not confirmed.

I knew she or someone acting on her behalf would try to put pressure on PIA to get out of a sticky situation.

Kirmani is bad news for PIA, he is a hypocrite, he preaches one thing and then does completely opposite.

For Example: He posts the retarded son of Defence Minister as Markenting Manager Frankfurt, why, cause daddy saved his job when he was about to be sacked by the President due to his arrogance and incompetence, ever;ything he has done in PIA so far has backfired.

He is just trying to live out his starstruck fantasies at the cost of the airline, I just hope he is shown the door before its too late, the guy is a "naukribaz" he will do anything to save his job, He dont give a damn about the airline. If a Lt.Gen asks him to do anything, he will find a way to do it and submit a compiance report.

The guy is bubbled up, the SVPs who love their jobs just as much as Kirmani does cant speak up in front of him as he uses abusive language and threatens them if they tend to disagree with him. All he belives in is beautifying the Head Office corridor and other superficial things like that, he is totally clueless as to what it takes to steer an airline out of trouble.

I work for PIA in a humble capacity, and think of it as my bread and butter, in my 22 years with the airline I have seen many MDs, Chairmans and CEOs come and go but this guy is the worst.

Correct me if I am wrong, is still the same way that losers of the national assembly elections run for the senate.

yeah i was reading the article the other day myself. I must say doesnt surprise me. What is the need for special counters for the parlimentarians? After all they are supposed to be public servants they should travel like the general public. And how will having special counters improve thier work capacity or efficency?

Just one more f$%ing example of the VIP culture/disease this country suffers from. I have yet to see counters for Congressmen or MP's at any US or UK airport, or any other airport for that matter.

Ditto! Why cant they travel like normal people instead of thinking they are above eveyone. I guess this statement can be put into many things.

If everyone in the United States, including Congressmen/Senators, ex-Vice Presidents of the United States have to go through security, then why can't these bumble-clots not go through security? :?:

As long as you are getting your "Payslips" before the end of the month, I think you are OK with PIA. Do not get hypertension, nothing could be changed there. So be happy, and love where you live, or leave it.
