Urgent help needed (pilots)

Post by F.K »

hey guys,.,,,with the massive scale orderes being placed by pia is the pilot induction now going to be a periodic feature or will it just end with the last few batches that ve been taken in. i have a friend whose wants to tee off his piloting career at this stage (20) and will probably have his license in hand 8 months from now. any chance pia would be recruiting pilots next year or will there be another dry spell as was seen duiring the mid 90s.!!!!! in essence, how viable is it.\ to invest money in acquiring a cpl now. r the odds looking up or is it simply a dead investment.!!!

I think its an ongoing process now. In order to catch up with the speedy retirements and projected expansion, PIA would need one intake every year.
They have surely learnt from their mistake.

What I know is

Their were following ads

Somewhere near JAN 2005
Somewhere near AUG 2005
Somewhere near JAN 2006

Induction was as follow

30 cadets from JAN 2005 ad
12 cadets from JAN 2005 ad (inducted around AUG 2005 from the first AD again)
30 cadets from AUG 2005 ad

Total so far - 72 inducted
(Final list were of 67 cadet pilots, I guess five were dropped cause of Medical Reasons)

May be 30 cadets more from JAN 2006 ad so...

Grand total from JAN 2005 to JAN 2006 ads => 97 cadet pilots
(Assuming 30 cadet pilots are inducted from JAN 2006 ad)

Now the question is...

HOW MANY MORE ADS and HOW MANY MORE CADETS?

Total strength of PIA Pilots around 500. I don’t know how many leaving? How many retiring? How many required to fill in the gap?

Regards

P.S

After getting Beach 1900 will Airblue be interested in hiring CPL/IR holders or they will go for more experienced pilots?

What about Aero Asia… are they planning to get smaller aircrafts (too) for socio-economic routes

thanks man but all u did was put my questions down in a different way...with 97 pilots already inducted i think the requirement has been taken care of for now but with the mass exodus and expansion ambitions of the airline, there should be vaccums created just about every few years...i think thats the best thumbs up one can get from sheer logic and stats it self to take on the idea....!!

i spoke to capt felix today ( airblue dfo), and he told me that airblue will continue to hire experienced pilots with proper multi engine hours...... fresh cpl/ir holders will not be considered for induction... pia seems to be the only airline thats gonna be taking pilots this way for the meantime...also atleast 1 f27 will be indefinitely retained as a training substitute for the grounded twin otters before putting the pilots on the seats of the atr as a requuirement from the manufactuer.

So I guess Airblue and Aeroasia are out of reach of fresh CPL/IR

Only PIA is left… with 67 cadets selected so far…

The position will be clearer after they select from 76 + 17 candidates.

If they select 30 or 40 out of them then there is a chance for more PIA Ads and if they select more then may be no more Ads in near future

Out of the 76 pilots, 74 have been issued the call letters which will be dispatched on monday, and out of the 17 others, 5 have been selected (these were the ppl with high sources). In my opinon the next add will surely be somewhere in December.

I'd like to know where would Capt. Felix generate these so called experienced pilots from in Pakistan, they'll have no choice but to hire fresh CPL/IR and or the airforce lot, apart from them there is no other source in the tiny Pakistani aviation market.

Hey Xuhair!
PPL with high scores?? What do I don't understand here? I mean doesn't one have to be CPL/IR min? I am very interested in hearing how you came to the conclusion of a possible December recruitment.

i dont think felix would worry too much about that since airblue will not be facing a dearth of pilots in the near future reason being that all its capts even the senior most lot are conservatively 40 plus, giving them a lot of time to serve before they plan for their replacements. as for the expansion plans all they have to do is advertise and underdogs from pia fokkers and other airlines such as aero asia and shaheen would come running. i see them takin over pia in another 10 years.
