If PIA's First Class were to return

Post by pkjet »

I think that, in order to regain it's glorious past, PIA ought to bring back First Class.

First Class would be offered on ultra longhaul routes (US,Canada,UK,Europe)and have limousine transfer, lounge facility with shower, internet, etc etc and also onboard fax/telephone combined with A star service levels.

Business Class ought to be kept to Asian,Middle Eastern and domestic trunk routes (KHI-ISB/LHE/LYP/MUX/PEW and also offer executive facilities as required by today's businessman/woman.

What do you guys think ?

PK should really be thinking about reducing its costs first and then diversify its services.

PIA is not really in that league where it can afford to offer an F class anymore. It would have to be amongst the world class airlines in order to be able to offer that.

As a matter of fact a few large quality airlines have dispensed with F class and never looked back such as SAS, Continental, US Airways, Virgin etc and many airlines such as EK, QR, TG, RJ, KU, GF etc don't even offer F on certain sectors, why, because there is no market for it and it saves costs.

If PIA were to offer F class on European and US/Canada flights they would have to offer considerably lower fares than the competition because frankly if I were given a choice to fly to either LHR or JFK in either EK or PIA's F class and the fare were the same, or even if EK was about Rs.5K more, I would choose EK because their product would be far superior to PIA.

Also as PIA now offers C class pax a pick and drop service, its gone and improved its product just a little bit more.

There are some airlines who's business class servcic seems to be at par with the First Class of lesser airlines, PIA should focus on doing that.

I don't think PIA First would generate the type of revenue needed to justify reducing the total number of seats on PIA's aircraft.
