AirBlue to lease two used Airbus A321-200 aircraft
Just got following info from my friend Alexandre Avrane - ATDB
AirBlue has signed an agreement with International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC) to lease two used Airbus A321-200 aircraft. The two aircraft are powered by V2533-A5 engines and will be delivered to AirBlue in December 2005. The lease terms are for 5 years each.

Fantastic.
DARFA was delievered on April 1, 2004.
DARFB was delievered on March 26, 2004.
So for all intents and purposes, these aircraft are brand new.
Yeah, I think these will be used on the DXB route. The Turkish wet-lease a/c were supposed to be an off-peak season a/c, which is a bit strange because we are heading in to the peak DEC/JAN season right now.

It wil be very nice to see Airblue with A321s. Will they have Pakistani registration as well?
By the end of five years all of the 10 planes which AirBlue is going to have will be deleivered and these two A321s will surely help acomodating heavy pax load which Airblue can have for sure in near future.raza wrote:Why are they leasing these a/c for five years. I thought they have bought 8 A320s

what i've just learnt is that Airbus industrie has asked airblue to get experience pilots first ..only then will the A330 be delivered....since their own pilots do not have enough airline experience on wdie body aircraft..they were looking for PIA pilots and offering 400G's as the starting salary for them provided they joined air blue...but ofcourse the government asked them not to hire PIA pilots..so until they can get their hands on experienced pilots..which probably wont be form Pakistan..the A330 is still miles away..

LOL ill have to disagree on that man....first and most important thing is the cockpit commonality so lets just forget about the experience think.......wide body.....hmm.....ED has ex-PAF pilots which had been flying the B707, C-130's and B737 (VIP Sqdn).....so that will not be a problem as well.....ED wont hire non pakistani crew...yea for training purpose ofcourse but not for ever....wen the airline started.....the pilots were gone for training about a month or more before the first flight.....same thing with the A330's.....right now they are concentrating on the A320 family and training the shaheen crew for that.....and will send the current best fit pilots for the A330.....mind you...pilots who do not qualify for the necessary hours on a A320 will not be sent to the A330....mostly the Capt.'s of the A320 will be sent to the A330's .... if required , again, the best fit F/O's will be taken in for that a/cCharliedelta11 wrote:what i've just learnt is that Airbus industrie has asked airblue to get experience pilots first ..only then will the A330 be delivered....since their own pilots do not have enough airline experience on wdie body aircraft..they were looking for PIA pilots and offering 400G's as the starting salary for them provided they joined air blue...but ofcourse the government asked them not to hire PIA pilots..so until they can get their hands on experienced pilots..which probably wont be form Pakistan..the A330 is still miles away..
