EASA auditors visit PIA engineering department
KARACHI (November 30 2005): Two quality Auditors nominated by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) visited PIA Engineering Department for "Surveillance Audit" from November 21. The Auditors were Jean Louis Ammeloot, Lead Auditor GSCA France and Emmanuel Heugas, Co-Auditor GSCA France.
According to PIA, it is a mandatory requirement of EASA to conduct at least two surveillance audits of an Approved Maintenance Organisation (AMO) each year.
PIA Engineering, under EASA Part-145 Approved Maintenance Organisation, is authorised to perform maintenance of Foreign / European registered aircraft under approved scope of work.
This approval has enabled PIA Engineering to generate substantial amount of foreign exchange through heavy maintenance jobs on customer's aircraft during last two years.
