A perfect fleet!

Post by Boeing 787 »

What I think PIA will reqiures this fleet by 2012

a) 12 B777s for long-haul operations
i) 3 B777-200ER
ii) 5 B777-200LR
iii) 4 B777-300ER

b) 2 B747-300s for Middle East, domestic, Haj and Umra operations

c) 6 B787-3 for regional operations

d) 6 B787-8 for European and Far East operations

e) 3 A310-300 for Middle East, domestic, Haj and Umra operations

f) 7 B737-700 for regional operations

g) 7 ATR-42 for regional operations

h) 3 A310-300F for Freight purposes

Hows my imagination. May Allah bless PIA with enough money and honest proffesionals.

I don't agree with having the A310 along with B787 as they can be used on the same routes but B787 being more economical.

PIA also does not need 5 B772LR if it wants to fly to US 1 weekly off peak.

I would like them to induct more B772ER so PK can increase frequencies on some routes.

Agreed, I think it doesn't make sense economically to have so many different types of aircraft. I think maybe they should go all boeing or airbus, most likely the former. That would reduce maintence and engineering costs. Having different variants of the 777 to be used on specific flights like to Europe, Middle East, and North America, maybe some 787s for replacing the A310s routes and some 737s for domestic routes and ATR for regional. I personally think an Airline should have no more than 5 different types of aircraft. If the fleet has too many different types of planes it just adds costs.

And shouldn't it be 747-400 instead of 747-300? It will be too old that time...

I would go for the 787 isstead. I remember reading an article about it that the A350 can't match the efficency of the 787 and that the 787 is more fuel efficent, which is a good thing for the environment and during this time of higher oil prices. The 787 will also be available I believe much sooner than the A350. Just my 2 cents.

A350 will be too big for Europe and Asian routes and too small for UK and SA routes.

PIA should not go for B747Advanced as it already has the crew for B773(Base).

Well we all like to dream up an imaginary fleet for PIA so I might as well jump on the bandwagon too:

10 Dash Q400
10 737-700 or A320
6 A310-300
5 A330-200
5 A330-300
3 777-2ER
3 777-2LR
4 777-3ER
4 747-400 Combi
2 777-2LRF

The Dash replaces the Fokkers, the 737-700 or A320 replaces the 733, the 6 owned A313 can fly for another 10 years, the A332 and A333 replaces the AB4, the 772 and 773 replaces the entire 743 fleet, the 74E replaces the 74M and the 772LRF are used as freighters.

B 777-300ERs to replace B 743s on high density UK and Gulf routes.

B 777-200LRs to fly nonstop from PAK to JFK, ORD and YYZ...replacing B 74Ms.

B 787-800s to fly medium density regional, far east and EU routes...replacing AB4s and A 310s.

B 737-700s to fly on domestic and low density international routes.

Dash Q400 to replace Fokker F 27s.

Well done Behramjee.I think you're spoy on.Only three questions;-
1. How many aircraft of each type.
2. Does the Dash8-Q400 have adequate landing/ takeoff performance for short/unpaved strips as compared to the ATR?
3. What about Freight capacity?
Regards, Mike.

5 x B773ER
4 x B772ER
3 x B772LR

11 x B737-700s (5 of these should be dedicated to the domestic routes only and they should re-brand them as PIA Express)

All these plans are nice-

However, its all needs money.

20 Years ago this month, PIA help set up EK.

Look at EK and look at PIA.

Says it all really.
