LAHORE: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has airlifted about 350 tonnes relief goods from domestic charities and 200 tonnes from the international network to the earthquake hit areas so far.
PIA staff has been working round the clock to cope with airlifting of the relief goods to the calamity-hit areas.
PIA was the first to announce free transportation of goods to the quake-hit areas. The national flag carrier has enhanced its Boeing 747 Combi operations to Islamabad and is hiring dedicated freighters to expedite the relief goods airlifting operation.

PIA transports 328 ton relief goods for quake victims
KARACHI, Oct 26 (APP): PIA has transported 328 tons of domestic relief goods on Karachi-Islamabad sector on scheduled flights so far, according to official sources on Wednesday.
The national airline has also arranged and operated five flights by Antonov An-12 Freighter on Karachi-Islamabad sector carrying 85 tons of relief goods.
A total of 803 tons of relief goods from the International stations have been carried into Pakistan by scheduled flights as well as by nine charter flights.
Also the national airline has set up a Special Cell at Karachi and Islamabad with additional manpower working round the clock.
Additionally, co-ordination team is working at Head Office seven days a week and is available 24 hours on telephones/mobiles to government agencies, NGOs and field offices.
Special Cell was created at the domestic Cargo terminal QIAP KHI with additional manpower (with the exclusive efforts of PIA Cargo Division) and dedicated telephone/fax lines functioning round the clock.
The national airline has also planned for 25 charter flights on the International sector and three on domestic sector to meet the increased relief goods uplift for earthquake victim officials added.

KARACHI, Nov 8 (APP) - Continuing with its earthquake relief operation PIA has, exactly one month since the disaster hit Azad Kashmir, Northern Areas and NWFP, lifted 1467 tons of relief supplies from its domestic and international network.
PIA carried 517 tons on its international scheduled flights and 436 tons on international charter flights on the global network.
The airline transporterd 400 tons on its domestic scheduled flights besides 114 tons of relief supplies which were on international transit and were lifted from Karachi on Domestic Charter Flights raising the total tonnage lifted to 1467 tons.
Now since the relief operation has converted into rehabilitation work, PIA will henceforth carry bulk cargo on dedicated charter flights.
However, PIA said, there is still a lot more relief goods left to be carried. Nearly 20 stations in PIA's global network have relief supplies awaiting transportation.
It is estimated that once the total relief supplies are transported by PIA, the total supplies carried will be around 4000 tons.
