KARACHI: A high-level delegation from German Airlines - Lufthansa - visited PIA head office on Monday and met with senior PIA management to enhance cooperation and collaboration between the two airlines.
The interactive meeting chaired by PIA Chairman and CEO Tariq Kirmani discussed at length the areas in which PIA and Lufthansa could both benefit mutually from each others' know-how and partnership.
Lufthansa established in 1926 has an eighty years experience in the airline business and ranks third in the world. Today the company groups various different functions and areas of the aviation industry, each operating and functioning separately.
The visiting delegation representing a range of expertise made separate presentations highlighting the areas in, which the two airlines could associate and develop synergy.
Lufthansa Technik explained its proficiency in technical support, which it has for both the Airbus and Boeing aircraft.
At present Lufthansa Technik is handling maintenance of PIA aircrafts at Frankfurt airport. Other potential areas, the presentation offered are overhaul of engines, cabin refurbishment, repair/overhaul and pooling of components and additional products made by Lufthansa.
Tariq Kirmani speaking on the occasion said that the discussions had been very useful in exploring the possibility of cooperation in various fields of activity.
