PIA to start new cargo flight for carpet exports
LAHORE: The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) would start a new cargo flight for carpet exports to the US from 5th October.
This was stated by head of PIA's cargo department Shahid Latif while talking to carpet exporters in Lahore. He said that the government has accepted the long-standing demands of the carpet exporters and has decided to start new cargo flight and now the number of cargo flights has been increased to five.
Shahid Latif said that due to the increase in the international oil prices the cargo charges have also been increased however as soon as the oil prices are slashed the cargo charges would also be reduced.
The representatives of the exporters Naeem Tahir Sheikh informed that Pakistan is facing stiff competition in the international markets and if the government provides incentives to them then the export target of 250 million dollars can also be increased manifold.
Currently 60 tons of carpet is being exported through a cargo flight.
