Good for connecting Pakistan to East Asia. AAX claims that there is annual demand for 100,000 pax in this sector which is very good. I wonder if any airline would consider daily flights to KUL. :-k

On another note I wonder if our local airlines will operate KHI-KUL. It would be a logical next step for FJ and SIF when they get more jets.

Air asia X is the long haul subsidiary of Air asia. Hopefully we can see their a330s at KHI. Their network out of KUL is really good, offering connections to as far as Australia.

Air Asia X only operates A330s, so certainly we will see them in Karachi.

Excellent news! Great to see Pakistan’s connectivity on the rise again. Would love to see Malaysia enter the market with ISB. Least served of the major cities.

AirAsia X continues strong growth momentum with a new route to Karachi, Pakistan’s largest city

SEPANG, 13 March 2025
- AirAsia X (AAX) is kicking off the first quarter of the year on a high with the announcement of a new route to Karachi, the largest city in Pakistan, starting 30 May 2025.

The four-times-weekly flights mark another milestone in the airline’s international expansion. With 22 routes in total, the airline strengthens its commitment to affordable medium-haul travel.

As the only low-cost carrier in Malaysia to provide direct service to Karachi, this new route enhances affordable connectivity between the two nations, allowing Malaysian travellers and the thriving Pakistani community in Malaysia to fly home affordably. It also plays a pivotal role in linking travellers from Pakistan to Malaysia and the rest of ASEAN, connecting them to the region’s vibrant trade, tourism, and economic opportunities.

Benyamin Ismail, AirAsia X CEO said: “As we build on our strong growth momentum in 2024, we are thrilled to launch AAX’s next adventure in Karachi, further strengthening our presence in the South Asian market. Karachi is a dynamic city with a rich history and a thriving modern economy, and we are proud to be the sole low-cost carrier connecting this vibrant metropolis to our extensive network beyond Malaysia. This route will also open up hundreds of seamless connectivity options for travellers to key markets such as Australia, China, Thailand, and more via our Fly-Thru services.

“With plenty to explore and experience, be it for business, leisure or pilgrimage, both nations are set to benefit from immense tourism and travel potential with this new flight service. AAX anticipates carrying more than 100,000 guests annually on this route, further reiterating our commitment to support the Malaysian government’s initiative to welcome 30 million tourists in line with the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign. We look forward to mutually benefitting the growth and prosperity of both countries.”

In celebration of the announcement, AAX is offering promotional fares from Kuala Lumpur to Karachi, starting from RM959 all-in* one-way and from Karachi to Kuala Lumpur for PKR64,990 all-in* one-way. The promotional fare is available for booking on the AirAsia MOVE app and airasia.com from now until 20 April 2025 for the travel period between 30 May 2025 and 27 March 2026.

Karachi, whilst modest in culture, is anything but when it comes to the city’s architectural marvels and picturesque views. Many of its ancient forts and museums are a perfect blend of both Rajasthani and Renaissance influence and are a must-see for history aficionados. The city is also situated along the idyllic Arabian Sea coastline, making it a relaxing spot to explore coral reefs at Charna Island or visit Turtle Beach to spot the majestic, endangered green sea turtles. For textile lovers, Karachi’s colourful and lively bazaars are a star attraction for the city - often bringing in throngs of visitors from all over for bridal trousseau, hand-crafted trinkets and embellished fabric shopping.

Flight Schedule between Kuala Lumpur (KUL) and Karachi (KHI):
