On October 13, PIA Airbus A320 aircraft registration AP-BOM performing flight PK144 from Al Ain to Islamabad landed safely at Karachi Airport after experiencing technical problem.

Around 4:19 AM, the A320 flying over Balochistan began descending from altitude of 35,000 feet. The aircraft Squawked 7700 to indicate a General Emergency. It descended to altitude of 11,000 feet by 4:33 AM before landing safely on Karachi Airport Runway 25L at 5:25 AM.

The aircraft descended to lower altitude due to loss of cabin pressurization and diverted to Karachi for inspections & removal of fault by PIA Engineering, according to news sources. Passengers were shifted from the aircraft to Karachi Airport lounge. Probably PIA adjusted affected passengers in airline's flights from Karachi to Islamabad.

PIA Flight PK144 from Al Ain was scheduled to arrive in Islamabad at 4:40 AM on October 13.

The aircraft is still on the ground at Karachi Airport

This is seriously concerning. Deteriorating financial health of the airline has led to bare minimum focus on the maintenance and engineering of the fleet. PIA better resolve this issue before, god forbid a disaster takes place.
