Unreliable PIA Flights Schedule - Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Writes Complaint Letter to Aviation Minister

Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Gulbar Khan in a letter dated June 21, 2024, to Aviation Minister Khawaja Asif has complained about unreliable and irregular schedule of PIA flights for Gilgit-Baltistan including flights' cancellations and delays.



According to the letter, the unreliable PIA flights schedule has caused inconvenience to residents of Gilgit-Baltistan. The tourism industry of Gilgit-Baltistan also suffers losses due to unreliable PIA service.



Gilgit Airport is served by PIA ATR turboprop aircraft flights to & from Islamabad. Apparently only one ATR 42-500 aircraft registration AP-BHI is currently active in PIA fleet.

Last year, Supreme Appellate Court Gilgit-Baltistan directed Pakistan Civil Aviation Auth­o­rity (CAA) and Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to submit a report on the operational life of PIA ATR aircraft deployed by the airline on flights between Islamabad and Gilgit and reasons behind technical faults in these flights.
