Passports Not to be Issued to Pakistanis Seeking Asylum Abroad

Post by Abbas Ali »

According to Pakistan's Directorate General of Immigration & Passports, Pakistanis who have applied for asylum abroad or who have already received asylum abroad, would not be issued Pakistan passport.

In recent times a number of PIA flight attendants disappeared after arriving on airline's flights in Toronto and sought asylum in Canada.

Even merchant Navy personnel on vessels get a Pakistani travel document issued. Why can't they issue one to asylees. Asylum is not necessarily against a state, it can be due to local enemies in the society. Majority of the cases are like that. Political asylees due to state high handedness are handful.

IMO, Qadiyanis (I am not one among them) will be impacted the most with this decision as almost 100% of them are asylees on foreign lands.

I partially disagree with the statement that majority are asylees due to local enemies in the society. Personally I know from experience that 99% are just for “escaping to Europe”. Then they ruin the image of Pakistan and we middle men get affected in these societies due to them.

Thats correct. In first place, the ministry should also investigate its own officials who issued passports to people holding asylum abroad.

No way. Gone are the days were EU among other countries could "host" due to local enemies. People with local enemies are expected to ask autorities as polic for protection, not Europe. But in case the government is your enemies, then it is another case.

I know a family of three people who had taken asylum in Malaysia and they are economic migrants using the UN to get refuge in Malaysia.

Our state has failed in so many ways that people are now forced to leave the country for better future. if you are a poor family in Pakistan there is nothing for you. No health, no education, no justice, its a police state with high inflation and the poor cannot afford decent food.

I dont blame the people for bailing out, what else are they suppose to do, while our rulers have billions of dollars worth of properties in the west the poor are having a hard time making ends meet.

The corruption in setting up the power plants has crippled the economy and half the industries are shut due to high cost of energy taking our circular debt to nearly 2,500 billion rupees causing high unemployment. The rulers are still busy making money they have no shame.

While the IPPs have an installed capacity of over 22,000 MW they only produce 10,000 and we pay shut plants 17 rupees per unit from our bills.

Its good Pakistanis are escaping this country where a retired Chief Justice gets 15 lacs a month in tax free pension and the small business man is hounded by the FBR.

Last year authorities created a case against me that was beyond fiction, and I am not allowed to use my bank account details to protect myself but the FBR can use its data to create the case against me. Funny business.

BTW the 3.9 trillion in tax exemptions that the government is announcing the biggest chunk it 18% sales tax on petrol, but the government is already collecting more then 18% in form of petroleum levy which is 60 rupees per liter and going up to 80 rupees in this budget.
