No surprise considering they are not using MUC as a transit hub very effectively. You could not fly to a lot of destinations in Europe with them.Tuti Fruiti wrote: Tue Jan 30, 2024 9:37 pm they are running into losses in these routes and some other routes in south asia..

Might also have been better to work with Qatar and fill in the gaps since they will be joining oneworld alliance soon and it would be good to see them to extend more flights to PAK. Would Multan also be a good option for them to work? I know that Oman and Qatar have some sort of a joint business agreement so looking to see where this might take them going forward.

Multan airport traffic has multiplied..it stands at 7 lakh last year..means before it got expanded majority of those people wud travel to lahore, Islamabad to get international flights..Salam air is serving multan and air sial is exclusively serving multan to Jeddah flights...i think multan because of geographical central location has lots of potential for traffic of south punjab, south kpk, eastern Blochistan and even northern sindh..baberblues wrote: Thu Feb 01, 2024 7:27 pm Might also have been better to work with Qatar and fill in the gaps since they will be joining oneworld alliance soon and it would be good to see them to extend more flights to PAK. Oman air i guess is doing restructuring of routes on its own .they have joint business with qatar but this route restructuring has nothing to do with qatar partnership i guess

Islamabad and Lahore disappear from Oman Air route network in changes revealed on airline's official Twitter account https://twitter.com/omanair.
Flights between Muscat and Lahore offered via Doha under codeshare partnership between Oman Air and Qatar Airways.

Oman air is currently undergoing a major crisis, their network has shrunk a lot. Btw, they have retired their a330 fleet now, 3 of them being under the age of 10, could be an opportunity for the upcoming PIA management to seek these aircrafts for UK.

The best case scenario for PIA would be getting bought by any one of Emirates Etihad Qatar or Saudi Airlines
And those airline's transferring some of their 777s to PIA and fixing the grounded one including BID BHW & BGL
Adding 4-5 777s wouldn't be a problem for any of these m.e carriers and they would be best for PIAs routes to Uk etc
Hopefully all goes well and the new management works with dedication for revival for Pakistans aviation sector
