Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Air Commodore (Retired) Sattar Alvi has received Medal of Courage (Wisam Al-Shuja'ah) from Syria at Syrian Embassy in Islamabad from Syrian Ambassador to Pakistan Dr. Ramez Alraee.

On April 26, 1974, Alvi, then a young Fight Lieutenant, shot down an Israeli Air Force (IAF) Dassault Mirage III fighter while he was piloting a Syrian Arab Air Force MiG-21 fighter during a Combat Air Patrol (CAP) mission.

"The thirty-second air combat of Flight Lieutenant Sattar Alvi showcased the bravery and skill of Pakistani pilots in defending the Syrian airspace," PAF said in a statement.

This is the real medal that should put on chest with honor and pride, unlike many generals, never been in any war and put 30 plus medals on chest and walk around.
Fortune favours brave.
