Timeline of Pakistani airports becoming international

Timeline of Pakistani airports getting international status by foreign airlines :-)

1-) Karachi (1929 imperial airways)
2)- islamabad (1976 British Airways)
3)-Lahore (1986 Saudi Airline)
4)-Peshawar (1998 Emirates)
5)-Multan (2013 flydubai)
6)-Sialkot (2013 Air arabia)
7)-Quetta (2015 flydubai)
8)-Faisalabad (2015 Air arabia)


If any member knows more details to fill in the gap , it would be most appreciated. Regards :)

Please note at Number 2, islamabad had not own airport in 1976, This airport was called Chaklala Airport in 1976.

Noop. Chaklala was officially renamed as islamabad international airport in 1967 (the same year isb became fully operational capital) ... however military base continued to be referred as chaklala

But rememmber that IATA code RWP code still used till 1985.

Gawadar is also an International Airport. PIA did operate flight form Gwadar to Muscat.

Yeah , PIA launched Turbat-Gwadar-Muscat flights with Fokker F-27 aircraft way back in late 70's and Pasni-Sharjah with Boeing 737 in 1995 😀 ... but these flights were disrupted due to security reasons and remained on & off hence were not included in regular list though it would snatch #4 slot in All Pakistan from peshawar by going international first

PIA oprating flights from late 1970s Gawadar Muscat even Oman air used to operate also Turbat Muscat / SHJ

I don't think soo that oman air ever operated that route as they were established in 1993 & launched karachi flights in late 90's then added LHE & isb in 2010 (these were second and third destinations back then) ... :shock:

They might have operated some sort of chartered flights as thousands of balochi from makran coast are settled in Muscat and many hundreds are even omani nationals
