PIA's flights to EU and UK pre-ban

Post by Karachi Aviator »

Can anyone confirm PIA's frequencies to UK and EU destinations pre-ban?

For LHR, i belive 10 slots are available and all 10 were being utilised?. What about BHX and MAN?

And how many flights were being operated weekly to the EU Destinations? CDG, BCN, MXP, CPH OSL etc..?.

Birmingham was fluctuating between 3-5 flights per week to Islamabad.Manchester was daily to Islamabad and iirc 3 weekly to Lahore. Imo Birmingham had enough load to go daily and Manchester double daily to Islamabad but that never happened.not sure about Heathrow but I think isb was daily ,Karachi was one weekly and rest Lahore.

^ Thanks.

In the future, PIA should also consider London Gatwick or even Stansted. Somebody earlier at the forum mentioned Leeds Bradford Airport, it will surely generate good traffic but the runway of that airport is too short for 777 operations.

Pia served Leeds Bradford with their A310 at one point ,it did well and I think it was discontinued due to retirement of A310s.

LHR <> LHE was mostly 3 X a week with sometimes 4 X being put on as well. Tue/Thu/Sun if I recall correctly.

PIA branded ticketing counter is still there in Heathrow Terminal 3 near Check in Zone E and also PIA branded hand baggage sizing gauge is also there in the check in Zone. Possibly to facilitate Jordanian aviation wet lease flights or to maintain lease in LHR T3.

Seen 9th Feb 2023. I did take pics if anyone is interested.

It would be interesting to know how much lease or rent is for this desk.

I think at the time LBA was not able to receive 777 as it was primarily a short haul airport.

Even the A310 had to take off with a slightly reduced max take off weight due to length of the runway. 777 could not be affiliated again due to length of the runway.

Shaheen also operated A310s for around 3 months from LBA.

Seen a lot online about the online audit by EASA being successful but nothing about when the onsite will be.
