EASA Team Expected to Visit Pakistan in May/June
European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) team is expected to visit Pakistan in May or June. The team will visit Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) headquarters and PIA facilities.
Positive outcome of EASA visit will enable Pakistani airlines to resume commercial passenger/cargo flights between Pakistan and Europe/UK suspended since July 2020.
Presently, chartered Jordan Aviation Airbus A330 is transporting PIA passengers between Pakistan and UK (London/Manchester/Birmingham) and France (Paris).

PIA needs to fix two B-777 as fast as they can. Travel is picking up very fast, and Airfares are in general close to double during this summer travel.
KSA and UK flights during peak summer time could bring PIA out from Financial ventilator to semi private ward.

Thanks Abbas bhai
There was the meeting with Transport Sectretary Pete Buttigieg earlier this year as well. Hoping that's leads to an FAA visit soon too. Hoping JFK can be online as soon as possible. Trade with U.S. is increasing exponentially as well.

Roughly how long after the EASA visit can we expect a resumption in flights to EU/UK? If they visit in May/June, can we expect a resumption in services by mid-end of June?

1 of several visits I think before Pakistani registered aircraft are cleared for flight operations to EU,October/November if very lucky,March 2023 realistically.
USA Non stop very unlikely in the foreseeable future, more chances of AC operations to Pakistan than PIA landing in the US.

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to undergo European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) audit from May 23 to 27. Positive result of the audit will enable PIA to resume commercial passenger/cargo flight operations to & from Europe/UK suspended since July 2020.
EASA team audit includes PIA safety and security measures review. The visiting EASA team will receive briefing from heads and officers of various PIA departments.
Passenger services, cargo handling and other services/departments of the airline will also be observed/reviewed by the visiting EASA team.

If the ban is lifted PIA will be in better shape since summer travel is going like crazy and Airfares are pretty high all over the places.

I wouldn't say struggling, but they definitely aren't in a good position right now with 787 production and deliveries halted due to quality issues, 737MAX certification facing delays and 777X certification and EIS being pushed back 2 more years.

Problems with all 3 major products of a company is definitely a difficult time for the companymurtaza12 wrote: ↑Tue May 31, 2022 4:04 pmI wouldn't say struggling, but they definitely aren't in a good position right now with 787 production and deliveries halted due to quality issues, 737MAX certification facing delays and 777X certification and EIS being pushed back 2 more years.
Boeing share price is at a 5 year low so any big order from any airline will be highly discounted and for PIA it can ask additional favour(like lifting of ban) in return for a big investment in any Boeing plane lineup

I hope the silence from PIA/CAA does not signal a negative outcome here. Typically announcements are made immediately in Pakistan rather than waiting for formal findings to be released.

Re: EASA Team Expected to Visit Pakistan in May/June
As Per my conversation with people inside the airline the above news was reported incorrectly. It is NOT the EASA that was visiting rather it was IOSA who just came in for a visit. This visit has no implications on PIA EU Ops which will only be revived once EASA comes in for an audit.
