Plan to Develop Central Business District on Walton Aerodrome Land

Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has prepared an initial plan for the construction of a business centre on Walton Aerodrome land in Lahore. The historic airfield will be declared unsuitable for aircraft flights.

412 commercial plots will be created on 2035 kanals of land. Prime Minister has received a briefing on proposed Walton business district.



Business corridor, bank square, high-rise buildings, sports area, commercial area, health club etc. will be developed on Walton Aerodrome land.

Walton airfield served as Lahore Airport before construction of city's new airport at current location in 1960s for handling jet flights.

Like New York central park, if this area is converted into dense park, will reduce the co2 pollution of Lahore. But this is just hope as commercialization is priority

Today, Prime Minister Imran Khan during visit to Lahore received briefing on legislation and plan for commercialization of Walton Aerodrome land.

On November 25, Prime Minister Imran Khan while chairing a meeting in Lahore directed authorities to remove hurdles faced by Central Business District (CBD) - Walton project according to rules and regulations. The meeting was also attended by Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) officials.

Prime Minister also received briefing on Central Business District (CBD) - Walton project and shifting of Walton Aerodrome.

Closure of Walton Aerodrome will also enable construction of high-rise building Mabarak Center on Ferozepur Road not very far from aerodrome and its training/routine flight circuit/path.
