PIA starts Air Safari

KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines Karakoram Air Safari was inaugurated on Sunday by Minister of Defence Rao Sikandar Iqbal at Islamabad airport.
The Mountain Safari flight meant to allow the tourists to witness the splendour of Pakistan's Northern Areas has been started with coordination and consultation of tour operators, ministry of tourism and other stakeholders to attract domestic and foreign tourists.
The 90 minutes inaugural flight carrying tourists, members of diplomatic corps, representatives of the tour operators and senior officials of the PIA took off at 10:00 am and soon entered the land of mega mountains where high peaks including the world's second highest peak K2, lakes, meadows, valleys and glaciers gave an enchanting view of one of the most beautiful regions of the world. The sky was clear and snow-capped peaks were glittering in the August sun.
Five of the world's 14 tallest mountains (over 8000 meters) are situated in Northern Area. The flight flew over Abbotabad, Kaghan valley passed by Nanga Parbat and flew around K2 and landed at Skardu Airport for a brief stop.
The famous glaciers, valleys of Hunza, Gilgit, Skardu, Kaghan, Naran and Chitral and meadow were all a treat to watch.
