This is what happens when they ask Tahir ustaad from Saddar to paint the plane so they can cut costs, and end up humiliating themselves and the whole country by flying the plane in this condition.
Some foreign company should consider establishing a modern aircraft paint hangar at Islamabad International Airport to serve Pakistani aircraft and also aircraft of the region.

It requires quite some investment, and given a very small market, 30 to 40 airliners and a few private jets, dont think it is worth it.
Before the commissioning of PIA Engineering's Ispahani wide-body aircraft maintenance hangar at Karachi Airport in 1980/81, the airline's wide-body aircraft were painted outside Pakistan.
PIA McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30 (AP-AXC) wearing a fresh coat of paint photographed at Zurich Airport on September 28, 1977, after undergoing 'D Check' performed by Swissair.
There's also a photo of PIA Boeing 747-200B (AP-AYV) painted in Amsterdam in 1981.
Paint chipped off is normal and it happens in aviation eg most of the avionics related antenna are exposed to paint chipping off. But it rarely happens at tail and wings area. Alongwih interiors facilities, In commercial aviation industry its most vital to maintain the image and outer health of aircraft to attract more passengers and their romance with airline eg Emirates etc have their specialised liveries for such reasons. It’s really worrying and disappointing to see that PIA as commercial airline is flying aircraft to foreign soil with such embarrassing looks. Strange!

It was delivered new in 1974 are you sure D check within 3 years?? Very odd I would imagine D check after 5 years.
PIA needs to get its planes painted by a company that has a proper temperature controlled paint shop. Dubai is probably not possible as Emirates probably keeps them busy. I am guessing facilities at Thai or Singapore Airlines would be the ideal, or maybe somewhere in central Europe.
