the ad looks great, it is retro!

i recognize just a few tails like Japan Airlines, Phillipine Airlines, Air India, British Airways & PIA

There are two tails that are completely blank. I wonder why...

This ad seems to be targeted to the middle-east market. The tail selection may have more to do with what people in the region are familiar with rather than what is truly a top-notch airline. Otherwise, by the 80's, SIA and Thai had made quite a mark for themselves.

Between British Airways and Air India is tail of Korean Air Lines (KAL).

Between Air-India and PAL is the blank tail, which incidentally from it's shape looks like a Soviet build. The other blank tail looks to be a 707 and is after JAL.
