why PIA is not constructing another hangar, exclusively for paint job in closed temperature controlled environment? Already they are having tender for the manufacturer recommended paints but that will go in waste if not painted the fleet in recommended conditions.

PIA has around 31 aircraft. So even if they repaint each aircraft every 5 years you are talking about painting 6-7 planes a year. Now each aircraft probably takes 1 week to paint if done properly that mean the hanger will have work for 6 weeks. What will it do with the hanger for the other 46 weeks. Its cheaper to get these planes painted from outside Pakistan like Shaheen use to or Air Blue and Serene do now. Building hangers is not cheap investment.

But even before PIA would paint the planes in Karachi they were never in such poor condition as they are now. Before also PIA painted aircraft in Karachi but never this bad, maybe something to do with poor quality paint. If you look at BHX it looks new, I think it was painted a few years ago.

PIA can earn good revenue in painting the aircraft, and i am sure the problem of chipping off paint has appeared recently due to poor quality paint otherwise a very rare chance of see such defect in painting before. btw, PIA do need to remove the paint entirely before painting the aircraft, otherwise the economics of aircraft will be reduced i.e. MTOW due to paint over paint over paint practice

Does the hull being exposed like that not increase the risk of corrosion?

There is primer coat underneath which is the actual protection. Nonetheless this exposes the airline if not the hull :-k :-k :-k

PIA justed painted over the Vietnam Airlines livery so I think its the blue showing from underneath.

I have never seen any airliner with such a poor paint job.

Peeling paint on PIA Boeing 777-200ER (aircraft registration AP-BMG) fuselage repaired/patched.

Here the aircraft is seen landing at Manchester Airport as flight PK701 from Islamabad on May 15, 2020.

It probably looks worse as the top part will have a fresh coat while the rest of the plane has old dirty paint.

Why can't they ground the plane for 10 days and repaint the entire aircraft.

AP-BHX AP-BGL and AP-BHW are out of service for a while.

Why not finish their checks put them back in service and take out the planes that need to be fixed.

Just shows the mentality of the management, chaloo kaam.

Apparently the entire length of top fuselage has received a new coat of paint.
