Hi guys,
I would be grateful if you could give me some advice. I have FS2002, which I am looking to upgrade now. Is it best to go for Flightsim x or 2004? I am guessing it would be X as it is latest but are there any differences? I like picking and choosing airports and don't want to be tied down to any preloaded missions.
Also, I want to start downloading new liveries and aircraft but dont know how to do this. I tried it a few days ago, downloaded file, extracted files and moved the files to the flight sim aircraft location but the new aircraft wasnt there when I loaded up FS.
Any step by step guide for a dummy??
Please be gentle, I am pretty new to FS.
Thanks for any help.

hmm
Whell here my guide!
Fs2004 great nice package! works great and alot more addons are available for it!
FSX also great! heres the catch what microsoft dont tell you to get the most out of fsx! you need to build a powerfull machine setup otherwise system laaging all the way when you take your setting to even medium or high. low settings work but then the detail scenery is garbage! theirs the catch just thought id let you know!
FSX best simulator on the market only if you have a powerfull machine great graphics great power goes beyond fs2004 capabilities!
Now you decide which money wise you prefer!

thanks for the quick reply Sunny.
I am using an Acer Ferrari 3200 laptop and the FS2002 plays well on it. I did have a demo of FSX and it did lag a bit so I am guessing that FS2004 may be my choice.
On the other matter, I managed to get a downloaded aircraft (PIA747-300) onto my Flight sim. It gives me the option to pick it on the menu screen and shows the aircraft in the picture screen but when I go to fly I am sitting it the default cessna??? Any ideas?
Thanks

Welcome to the world of Flight Sim!
Regarding the Panels, these are easily changed.
First thing to do is download a suitable B747 Panel from Flightsim.com or Avsim. They both have either B747-200 / 300 / 400 Panels, choice is yours.
Next job once downloaded, always read the "read me" or instruction Files.
Normaly you would just open the B747 Aircraft File that you want to change and then replace the "Panel" File with your downloaded one.
Depending on how complex the new Panel is you may have to also add a couple of other Files.
Golden rule is always read the Instructions in your downloaded Panel File.
Regarding FSX or FS2004, its down to two things, your PCs ability to run FSX or just personal choice. I use FS2004 as there are so many more add ons etc ..........personal choice!

Both are good in their special ways dear friend, if you're looking for add-ons and goodies, FS9 is for you! if you're looking for more realism and perfection to FS9 than FSX is for you! I suggest you get FSX basic or deluxe and than sooner or later you'll get all the addons for it as well.....
