From "PIA embarks on cost cutting measures to stay on course" article
...................An unfortunate incident here was when one such airhostess from Kenya, Christene Wangari, disappeared after disembarking from a PIA aircraft in Canada earlier this year. In a letter written to PIA management, she complained of racial discrimination and harassment during her time with the airline. PIA officials say that Wangari has now applied for political asylum in Canada and that was the basis of her application.
Two other airhostesses, Uzma Qureshi and Naila Nazeer, both short term contractual employees, have also disappeared in Western countries. This has put the airline in an embarrassing situation. The PIA spokesman said that necessary disciplinary action as per PIAC Employees Conduct and Discipline Regulations 1985 had been initiated against the two airhostesses.

What disciplinary action ? This is a funny statement.
All PIA can do is fire them. Those employees have abandoned PIA already. They were not regular employees, so PIA does not owe them even a single cent.
Is PIA filing criminal charges against them. I dont think PIA can do that ?
Filing any civil suit, no chance of sucess? Bonded labour is illegal and unconstitutional all over the world including Pakistan. So what the heck this statement is all about.

Pakistani Constitution forbids bonded labour in black and white. PERIOD. PIA has no luck in the court.FULLTHRUST wrote:No sir, it is not in Pakistan. Employees have paid millions of rupees to get away with PIA.Bonded labour is illegal and unconstitutional all over the world including Pakistan.
For example, PIA trainee engineers have to sign a 20 year bond upon their selection.
