Flight Operations Department

Post by F.K »

i was just wondering that it had to be more then a sheer coincidence that the new flt ops team has in its entirety served in caa in the past. Capt. Mehboob (DFO), Capt Shahid Hussain (cpt), F/E Asad Shah (cfe) and others lower in the hierachy have all been flight inspectors on deputation to caa. was it a pre-ruminated plan by the dmd to replace the previous flt ops officials with people who have good working relations with caa as a short term fix to the present crisis. just a thought?

Even though fullthrust you are so right, but I still hope that this new team works its way out with CAA due to its better relations with it.......

If 'PERSONAL CONTACTS' is gonna be the modus operandi for smooth functioning of Airline and CAA, what will PIA do when this team completes its tenure.

Departments are never run on personalities or personal contacts rather on policies and procedures their implementation and a continous strive to achieve targets. Where as it'll be the same old ideas and the same old confrontations, PALPA vs Mangement. Nothing worth while will be gained and at the end it'll be the usual blame game.
Simple wastage of time, resources and before long we know the enevitable, another change of face ONLY.

This CAA contact theory is baseless, as its not CAA that needs to be overcome but rather the internal mess that requires immediate attention. Its a change of face ONLY, the rest will remain status quo.

Hate to sound this way but that's the ground reality.

R.F.....absolutely agreed.

By the way, what would it take to change the whole corporate culture in PIA?

can anyone then explain why a bunch of caa inspectors are all in one go sitting in the flight ops department and why this sudden change in the set up?

There is nobody in PIA to tell the higher mangement *NO* or to say that your policies are substandard or revolving around nepotism.

The present lot would do what....fly an ATR at mach 2, do aerobatics, single engine world tour or what?

Flt ops does not have anything to do with the present state of PIA. They just get the aircraft in whatever state from engineering, and take it off.

When a captain asks the ground engineer to rectify a snag which is MEL covered, he gets it back very rudely from the engineer that it is MEL covered. The capatins are at fault as well to a limited level, and that is to accept the aircraft without having a proper look at the CF snags and the HIL (blue slips) in the tech logs.

There is still an unmet need to rectify things at SVP level.

The bunch is well connected. The boss is a B777 captain through a 'court order' whereas he should have been a B-747 captain. Moreover, CAA now is not what it used to be when this bunch was there.

Capt. J. Ghazali to be the new CP-B737, excellent choice, a thorough gentleman and a professional.
