Non-availability of fire-fighting facility at Panjgur Airport causes flight cancellation
KARACHI, Feb 3: A PIA flight from Karachi to Panjgur, Balochistan, which was scheduled to operate on Thursday (Feb 1), had to be cancelled due to non-availability of fire-fighting facility at the Panjgur airport provided by the Civil Aviation Authority.
Passengers were provided accommodations for two days by PIA at a hotel in Karachi.
The flight was rescheduled on Saturday (Feb 3), but till Saturday evening the fire-fighting facility at the airport could not be restored, resulting in cancellation of the flight.
The passengers were again sent to the hotel.

Panjgur flight that never took off!
KARACHI: PIA Panjgur flight which was scheduled to operate on Thursday, February 1, had to be cancelled due to unavailability of essential fire-fighting facility at Panjgur Airport being provided by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
This was stated by the spokesman of PIA here Saturday evening. He said the passengers were accommodated for two days on PIA account in the hotel. Consequently, the spokesman added, this flight was rescheduled to operate on February 3, on assurance of provision of this facility at Panjgur Airport. But again it could not be made available by CAA inspite of delaying the flight till sunset resulting ultimately in cancellation of flight again.
The passengers of cancelled flight were again sent to the hotel, the PIA spokesman added. He said PIA regretted the inconvenience caused to the passengers and added that this was beyond the control of PIA.
