I like the idea and maybe its a good step for automating logistics but i wouldn't trust these with souls on board just yet. Not unless they can do more than 5000 flights without an accident.

The thing about automation and computers is that they can't think outside the box.

I don't think this will ever happen.

Now that is a scary idea! I personally wouldnt like to sit on an aircraft that is unmaned.. im sure their will be crew on board to keep an eye on things, still a plane flying on its own w/o any control so to speak. Is this working in similar way to the Autopilot?

Sorry but screw this UAV concept for PAX airliners, i bet you no one will go for it, as it is many things go wrong on current manned technology but dose still have safe barriers to them but this is totally out of wack for PAX transports. UAVs are ok for what they do with military requirements but should not be brought into Civil carriers aspect. Sorry but it won't turn on many in this favor.

Well if you look closely planes today are vertual flying like UAVs, its good to have pilot and co pilot in front just in case onboard computers fail including back ups then least we have chance of gliding down and landing in controls of pilot, but with full UAV concept if onboard computers failed during flight and back ups diden't took much of control then human lives are preety much doomed!!, what are the chances of survial then?...

What i meant by current planes vertually flying like UAVs is in refereance auto pilot!, now days most pilots do is set up all there flight preimeters in aircraft's computer and once airborned autopilots take over and all they do is watch over the things frequently through out the flight and navigate. With today's technology aircrafts can takeoff, fly and land by them selves anyways, so why not keep it this way and why eliminate pilots from the flight decks just to save few bucks!....

Connieman. Maybe it would be a good idea to apply a UAV version to PIA and CAA headquarters!

PIA has enough problems with people at the controls, Can you imagine them blind folded?
