Ok let see, if PIA is using these recently overhauled L1011s for there hajj services which is the busiest and peak travel season of the year then why can't they buy these planes, by the time this season is over these aircrafts would have proven themselves as they can handle all sorts o PIA's ordeals!, so in other words aircraft would have proved themselvs as reliable and use able for long term bases!, L1011s are way better the airbuses are!.....anyhow this occoured to me so i asked, if its irralement question then don't bother answering it..I am BAd in otherwardsAmaad Lone wrote:L.O.LAbbas,
Are there any chances of PIA buying these L1011s towards the end of there leases?.....

L.O.LL1011s are way better the airbuses are!.....
Which airbuses are you talking about, there are quite a few types???
Besides which moronic airline will buy aircraft that are 23 years old and production of which ended 21 years ago.
The L1011 was a big flop, and Lockheed Corporation lost $2.5 billion from the program, or an average of $10 million per aircraft. A total of 250 TriStars were built and delivered during 1972-85.
I am not answering your question, just laughing at it.anyhow this occoured to me so i asked, if its irralement question then don't bother answering it..I am BAd in otherwards

Most of the new ones any ways, A300s were still alot better then new ones, only A330 is better model then most other offered.

Its true 23 year old aircrafts, yet they are still in service and have out run most airbuses anyway, ie: if ithey are that bad and unreliable type then why did PIA even leased them, i am sure they know L1011 are better overall then airbus aircrafts and safer too...

No i don't think so, tri jet aged ended with intorduction of 2 cockpit crew and twin jet aircrafts, its basically airbus that brought Lockheed L1011s and DC10s down, plus its airbus's marketing stratigies that airlines as business went for but maintinence/handelling wise older aircrafts are still lot easier to maintain and run compaired to newer airbus...if you think L1011s were bigflop then look whats going on with new white whale, i am sure one more delay on it and thats pretty much the end of airbus super jumbo, airlines have already started to cancel there orders!

"God's International Airline" tells alot about someone who really care about this airline!!!

Well, I mentioned aircraft's overhauling in Amsterdam and also it's C-check in topic PIA's leased TriStar few days ago:CS-TEA wrote:Well... I do doubt CS-TMR will be ready to enter service before end of Hajj season. Thanks anyway![]()
The aircraft is still @ AMS. Then it will need more or less a month to accomplish the mandatory C-check...
Is this aircraft still in Amsterdam or moved to California for C-check?Abbas Ali wrote:Got following info from aerotransport.org
CS-TMR will get two ex-Delta engines this week. Will then ferry to Southern California Logistics (VCV) Airport for C-check before going to PIA. So don't expect it before early December in Pakistan.

Why do you want PIA to buy old and out-dated aircraft type like TriStar? Do you know any major airlines buying TriStar as passenger aircraft these days?ConnieLover wrote:Abbas,

As a well-wisher of PIA, I want to see PIA buy brand new & new technology aircraft.
Even for the Hajj operations, for the comfort of pilgrims, I want to see PIA use better & newer leased aircraft.
