B747-200 Combi AP-BAK was named Thar. Now with AP-BHV given same name does it mean PIA planning to retire AP-BAK in the near future?

I guess this AP-BAK the oldest 747 in the PIA fleet is going to be withdrawn once this 777 enters service.

Both have the same name, Thar.

In service since July 1979, this jumbo has served PIA for a good 27+ years, and I guess its time to go.

I hope PIA converts BAK into a full freighter

It looks like the end of AP-BAK now that this B773ER has been named "Thar - Colours of the desert"! AP-BAK played a great role in PIA history but it has lived past its age, I hope they put this in a museum in KHI or LHE.

I have actually become fond of the new tails. I guess it needed getting use to.

But, dont you guys think that the rear part of the fusalage is bit busy.

Maybe if the flag is moved up to the cockpit windows, where the urdu PIA is, and move that to the engines. Plus remove the urdu pakistan.

The Pakistani flag plus PAKISTAN next to it just does not look good.

looks LOVELY!!!!

hope to see a model of this now!

shame about AP-BAK will miss it should put it in the museum! Great service!

But Nice! when will PIA be flying this 777-300ER? the second 777-300ER may have the lahore tail...garden of the mughals then??? or AP-BGG Tail as these 747-300 should be put out of service A SHAME! I LIKE THE 747-300!

Hope to see PIA get the B747-800 in the near future as then they can only remain competitive with other airlines!

Thats superb to see PIA 777-300ER. It looks splendid, cant wait to see it in the air :D

And I am sure AP-BAK will be leaving the fleet soon as there is no point in naming the aircraft with the same title that has been given before. Salute to that striking bird for its exceptional work with PIA.

BTW, When is the delivery scheduled? I guess its in December? Plus when would the next 773 come?

The last B773 will join the fleet in 2008.

What is the deal about Thar???

I would imagine the biggest cities to get their names on the 777-300ERs, the future flag ships of PIA.

How did PIA decide which aircraft gets which name???

Karachi & Lahore should have been on the first two 777-300ERs.
